LIFE e.V.
The organisation "LIFE – Women develop Eco-Techniques" was founded in 1986. Starting at the Technical University of Berlin it set up an "eco-technical training center for women’ in 1993. Main aims of the organisation are to promote environmental protection and equal opportunities for women and men in skilled trades, science and technology, to support women’s participation in decision making in this fields, and to forge links between environmental and feminist politics by carrying out studies on gender issues in environmental policies, by giving advice to environmental policy, administration and organisations, and by providing background material on gender and environment/sustainable development.

FrauenUmweltNetz (Women’ Environmental Network)
In 1994 LIFE started a branch in Frankfurt/Main, the "Women’s Environmental Network". While the head quarter in Berlin is focussing mainly on training for women and research regarding access of women to the environmental and technique related labour market, LIFE’s branch in Frankfurt is linking environmental/sustainability issues and women's/gender issues. In the first years the main focus was on the participation of women in Local Agenda 21 processes, in recent years support of gender mainstreaming processes in these areas became an important field of our work.
