Climate Alliance resolution on power generation handed out to Commissioner Oettinger

Meeting on the EU response to the nuclear accident in Japan presented an opportunity to hand out the new Climate Alliance resolution to the Commissioner for Energy, Mr Oettinger. The Commissioner and the director general of DG ENER Mr Philip Lowe attended both this meeting directed to the civil society. The main objective was to discuss the view of civil society to the risk and safety assessments of European nuclear power plants. The Climate Alliance resolution takes a strong view on the need to phase-out nuclear energy and to create a more efficient and decentralised energy supply system based on renewable energy.
